What a good job card contains
- Order, customer and due date
- Product, size and quantity
- Weigh list: each material and the exact quantity to issue
- Route: machines and stages in order, with standard times
- Quality tests and their limits
- Space for actuals: start and end, output, seconds, scrap, supervisor sign-off
Why the rates on it must freeze
The card records the cost the order was quoted on. If material rates change next week and the card changes with them, you can no longer tell whether the job made money. A good system freezes the weigh list, rates and route when the card is issued.
Language matters on the floor
A card the operator cannot read is filled in by guesswork. Aakar One prints job cards in Hindi with numbered sections, so “section 6, line 3” works over a phone call.
Questions people also ask
Is a job card the same as a work order?
Nearly. A work order says what to make, and a job card adds how - materials, route and the record of what actually happened.
What happens to stock when a job card is completed?
Materials issued are deducted, good output enters stock as a lot, and seconds, scrap and byproducts are recorded as their own items with their own cost.
Stop calculating this by hand
Aakar One does this arithmetic for every product and every size, then carries the result into the quote, the job card, stock and GST. Manufacturing ERP with CAD built in, made in India.
